Struan Macdonald is a self taught artist who has been painting since his teens.  After experimenting with a variety of mediums including acrylic, graphite, water colour and pastel, he finally settled on oils as his medium of choice and now uses oils almost exclusively.  Struan specialises in landscape painting and has painted many scenes from Fiordland, Otago Canterbury and the Abel Tasman area. His work captures the ruggedness and drama of New Zealand’s wilderness and features depictions of forest and alpine and coastal environments.
